Therapy isn’t a life-time commitment.

Therapy doesn’t have to be a long-term commitment.

It’s not uncommon for people to avoid treating their mental health due to the fear of treatment “taking forever”.

We (therapists) see therapy more like an emotional antibiotic.

It’s the “skills, not pills” needed to heal whatever is causing you emotional distress.

Types of emotional distress may include:

·      feeling angry all the time,

·      having outbursts

·      overreacting to situations with friends, family, coworkers.

·      Shutting down and withdrawing from friends and family

·      feeling no motivation other than the bare minimum needed to survive life.

These are all things that can be worked out in a short amount of time.  The whole point of therapy is to help you find a healthier solution to difficult life events, emotions, and hurts.  Once you work through the presenting symptoms, you free up more head space to focus on the daily life things that help you move forward in a healthier way.

None of us escape emotional wounds.  We will all, at some point, experience something that hurts us or causes us emotional pain.  Some things we can work through with the help of our support system, but other wounds need a little extra treatment so you can go about your day and not get hijacked by uncomfortable emotions.
